Brazoria County 4-H Ambassador Program
The 4-H Ambassadors are our leaders who represent 4-H at community events throughout the county. The program is open to 8th graders and up who are looking to show their leadership skills, promote 4-H, and become an AGvocate in Brazoria County??? Then this group is for you! We are revamping the Ambassador program to help grow our youth as leaders not only in the County, but for their futures. As an ambassador plan to be at the county council meetings to recruit and give a report.
Ambassador applications have no due date and are open to year around enrollment.

Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador Program
Mission
The Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador program strives to provide high school aged 4-H members the opportunity to develop and practice advanced leadership skills related to mentoring other youth, and to become advocates for animal agriculture.
• Prepare youth for the experience of the University setting, through intensive science based instruction and experiences.
• Prepare and provide opportunities for youth to serve in advocacy roles for animal agriculture, 4-H, and junior livestock programs.
• Develop a heightened awareness of career opportunities in animal agriculture and advocacy.
Once a young person becomes a Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador they are required to commit at least 40 hours of service annually, in most cases the service goes back to assisting novice 4-H families with their livestock projects and education. Ambassadors conduct and assist with educational livestock project clinics, conduct home project visits, speak to civic groups, assist with livestock shows, speak at agricultural awareness days and advocate for the livestock and agriculture industry across Texas.
4-H Livestock Ambassadors have presented topics in agriculture advocacy, nutrition, selection, daily maintenance and care, showmanship, sportsmanship, preparing new 4-H families for show, and management of show animals during a livestock show. Additionally, the ambassadors teach livestock ethics and animal care to the novice 4-H families. These individuals have represented 4-H at interpretative events with such individuals and groups as members of the Texas House of Representatives and Senate, Texas Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Agriculture, County Judges and Commissioners, Livestock Show Management and 4-H Families.

There are only 25 participants chosen annually. Once chosen you will receive training for 4 days and you must pass the ambassadors test at over 80%. You will then be an Ambassador for your entire 4-H carrier. 40 hours will be required in the first year of participation.

Mission

- Prepare youth to serve in leadership capacities in Horse projects and programs across Texas.
- Prepare youth for the experience of the university setting, through intensive science based instruction and experiences.
- Prepare and provide opportunities for youth to serve in advocacy roles for the Equine Industry, 4-H, and the horse programs.
- Develop a heightened awareness of career opportunities in the equine industry and advocacy.

Mission
- Experience the wide diversity of water resources, water uses, sensitive ecosystems, and water quality concerns throughout the state.
- Gain insight into water law, policy, and planning strategies to protect and preserve surface and groundwater resources.
- Learn strategies for improving municipal, agricultural, and industrial water conservation and efficiency.
- Understand the importance of water to local, regional, and state economies.
- Develop valuable leadership and communication skills while educating others.
- Learn about career opportunities in the water industry.

Texas 4-H Healthy Texas Ambassador Program
Mission
- Serve as a youth community health and wellness leader
- Assist County Extension Agents in providing leadership to the youth components of Healthy Texas, Texas 4-H, and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service
- Serve as a leader to implement health programs and lessons in local schools
- Become knowledgeable and skilled in the healthy lifestyles subject matter
- Coordinate educational events that will encourage better health in your community for both youth and adults
- Be a role model for healthy living!
The Healthy Texas Youth Ambassador Program is looking for teens that are motivated, excited, and ready to make a change in their community! This program is designed for high school age youth who have a passion for health and wellness. These youth will be trained at the regional level to become youth health experts who can motivate others to make a change in their lifestyle to improve their health. More importantly, these ambassadors will assist local county extension agents with program efforts, project activities, and much more!

Texas 4-H Fashion and Interior Ambassador Program

For more information on the Texas 4-H Fashion and Interior Design Ambassador Program please visit their webpage. Ambassadorship is a two-year term. Every two years (even calendar years), up to 20 youth are selected to serve as a Texas 4-H Fashion & Interior Design Ambassador. In year one those chosen will participate in a summer training. In year two, ambassadors that are eligible and have met outlined expectations will have the opportunity to participate in a summer industry tour. Each year of the term, September 1 through August 31, ambassadors will provide a minimum of 40 hours of service.
