The focus of my current research includes the study of biogeochemistry in relation to vegetation change in natural and managed ecosystems; the effects of land use patterns and climate change on the carbon and nitrogen cycles; responses of ecosystems to changes in climate and atmospheric composition; reconstruction of paleoenvironments; and the application of stable isotope techniques to ecological and biogeochemical research. I teach two graduate level classes (Populations, Communities, and Ecosystems; and Biogeochemistry of Terrestrial Ecosystems), and co-direct the Stable Isotopes for Biosphere Sciences Lab, which provides unique analytical capabilities to faculty and students conducting research in ecology and environmental sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
