Beekeeping Basics
Have you ever thought about keeping bees? For ag exemption purposes, to pollinate your garden, make your own honey, or just as a hobby? This program is for anyone interested in beekeeping and/or learning how to start beekeeping, but need to know where to start. Beekeeping Basics Program
If you have an interest in beekeeping and/or learning how to tart your own bee hives, the Beekeeping Basics Program is for you! The program includes a classroom program on Friday, November 2, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., in the Extension Conference Room at the Bexar County Office of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service (3355 Cherry Ridge, Suite 208). Second Steps in Beekeeping
September 28 (Friday) will be Second Steps in Beekeeping, 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., at Rudy’s BBQ Doc Holiday Banquet Room (location subject to change) in Leon Springs (24059 Old Fredericksburg Road). This class is for those who have already attended the Beekeeping Basics program and are ready for some more in-depth information. Cost is $40 (includes lunch) and online registration is required.
Backyard Basics Expo
Mark your calendars for the Backyard Basics Expo! This event will be held at the San Antonio Garden Center (3310 N. New Braunfels, San Antonio) from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. This year’s Expo will feature educational sessions covering topics such as backyard chickens, making jerky, cuts of beef, growing fruit trees, drip irrigation, vegetable gardening, beekeeping and pollinators, and making salsa! Cost is $20 (adults & youth age 11+); $25 after August 1. Children age 10 and under are FREE. Online registration is required.
