Beekeeping Basics

October 11, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

$65

Have you ever thought about keeping bees?  For ag exemption purposes, to pollinate your garden, make your own honey, or just as a hobby?

This program is for anyone interested in beekeeping and/or learning how to start beekeeping, but need to know where to start. This class is geared for first time beekeepers and presented by experienced beekeepers, entomologists and horticulturists.
Anyone can be a beekeeper—young or old, city or country dweller!

During this course, we will cover the basics of bees and beekeeping, including: bee biology, beekeeping equipment and clothing, what to expect with your bees, and plants to provide your bees.  *Please note that this class is geared for those with minimal to no beekeeping experience, please consider one of our other classes if you have prior beekeeping experience.

A hands‐on field day to an apiary will be provided. This is where you will learn the most about beekeeping!  Must sign a medical release waiver to participate. Bee suit & gloves provided.  Directions to apiary given on Friday.

Lunch is provided on Friday!
