It also provides the members an opportunity to gain knowledge of the career responsibilities of a fashion designer and illustrator, enhance creativity and originality, and develop visual communication skills.<\/p>\n<p><em>Duds to Dazzle<\/em>: The Texas 4-H Duds to Dazzle Fashion and Interior Design Competition utilizes the knowledge and skills learned in the project, while increasing awareness of the impact of the clothing and textile industry on the environment, specifically the waste stream. Participants will showcase garments that celebrate the state\u2019s fiber industry, highlighting the importance of local agriculture in the fashion and textile industries. Texas leads the nation in cotton production and is a significant producer of wool and mohair. This category educates youth about the state\u2019s agricultural economy and encourages mindful consumerism and fiber advocacy through fashion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There will no longer be a separate contest for Natural Fiber. Outfits must be purchased at a garage sale, consignment store, Goodwill, Salvation Army, or other retail business. Receipts are required for everything that is visible during the interview, except shoes. Receipts for garage sales can be handwritten.
