Texas Monthly BBQ FEST 2019

One of the benefits of conducting the Texas Monthly ‘Cue Course is to attend the BBQ FEST to visit with old and new friends in the barbecue business, see current and former students, and to eat some of the greatest food around. Davey Griffin, Ray Riley, Brogan Horton, and Jeff Savell represented the Department of Animal Science of Texas A&M University at the BBQ FEST on Sunday, November 3, 2019. Davey Griffin, Brogan Horton, and Jeff Savell joined Texas Monthly Barbecue Editor, Daniel Vaughn, at the Texas Monthly ‘Cue Course, held on November 2, 2019. This is the third ‘Cue Course offered by Texas Monthly. The event was hosted by Stiles Switch BBQ, Austin, Texas, which served a wonderful meal to the participants and allowed a behind-the-scenes look at the the pits and pitmasters at work. Aggies participate in TMBBQ FEST 2015

For the fifth year in a row, Texas A&M University was one of the sponsors of the TMBBQ Fest 2015, and Texas Barbecue faculty and students were in attendance at the festival on Sunday, November 1, 2015 in Austin. The Texas A&M University team included Davey Griffin, Ray Riley, Jeff Savell, Jennifer Willis, Taylor Rowland, Julia Rauschuber, Marc Vogelsang, and John Chivvis. Aggies participate in General Electric Science of Barbecue Experience at South By Southwest

Davey Griffin, Ray Riley, and Jeff Savell participated in the General Electric Science of Barbecue Experience, which was held in conjunction with South By Southwest in Austin, Texas on March 14-15, 2015. The group made two presentations, the first one on the cuts of pork and beef used for barbecue, and the second one on trimming and seasoning of beef briskets. Fourth Barbecue Summer Camp held June 6-8, 2014

The very popular Foodways Texas Barbecue Summer Camp was held at the Rosenthal Meat Center at Texas A&M University on June 6-8, 2014. This is the fourth year of the camp, and about 60 participants from all walks of life, but with a common love for all things barbecue were in attendance this year. Aggies participate in Texas Monthly BBQ Festival, 2013 edition

For the third year in a row, Texas A&M University and its BBQ Genius Counter participated in the Texas Monthly BBQ Festival in Austin. Faculty and students from the Department of Animal Science, Jeff Savell, Davey Griffin, Ray Riley, Clay Eastwood, Chloe Geye, Kaitlyn Porter, and Michael Berto, were at the festival working at the Texas A&M University booth, visiting pitmasters, giving tips to backyard barbecue enthusiasts, and sampling great barbecue from the top places around the state.
