Homer Robertson from Granbury, Texas and multiple World Champion Chuck Wagon competition winner, brought his chuck wagon to Texas A&M University on Friday and Saturday, November 13 to 14, 2015. The purpose of Mr. Robertson’s visit was to demonstrate chuck wagon cooking to the ANSC 117, Texas Barbecue class and to feed faculty and students who came by during the two days. The Meat Science Section faculty and students were feed beef tips, bread, and bread pudding for lunch on Friday, and the Meat Judging Team was fed breakfast tacos and biscuits on Saturday morning. Wonderful beef stew and bread pudding were prepared for the tailgate before the Aggie-Western Carolina football game.

Mr. Robertson’s son, Ty, is one of the Super Sophomores for ANSC 117 so getting someone of Mr. Robertson’s stature was much easier since his son helps with this class. Mr. Robertson talked to the students about the history of chuck wagons and how they were used during the cattle drives of the late 1800s. The students were served some great bread pudding to compliment their Brazilian barbecue they had in class that day.

Thanks to Homer and Ty Robertson for such a great demonstration of chuck wagon cooking. As you may expect, everyone thoroughly enjoyed all of the food prepared, and we all now know why he has received so many awards at the chuck wagon competitions.
