Permits to Apply Herbicides

Under new regulations (in effect November 2011) each state or the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates the introduction of all pesticides into or over water. Before applying aquatic herbicides you must check regulations in your state and comply with these regulations. In Texas the TX Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) enforces these regulations. At the federal level the EPA has regulatory authority. Links to these two agencies are at: TCEQ and EPA. If you are in another state you should check with your state regulatory agency or Extension Office.
