The Texas Fruit Conference will hold its 6th<\/sup> educational program for new and experienced fruit growers on October 2nd<\/sup> and 3rd<\/sup> , 2017, at the City of New Braunfels Civic Convention Center<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The educational program this year has three components:<\/p>\n

Basic Training for New Fruit Growers<\/strong>\u2014We will be providing detailed information on how to make a successful start with a new fruit orchard. Topics include: Evaluating and preparing soil for a new orchard, Irrigation system installation, management and modification, Reducing tree and vine failure with good planting technique and establishment practices, & Fruit Variety Selection by Regions for Texas<\/em><\/p>\n

CEU Recertification<\/strong>\u2014More Pesticide CEU\u2019s will be offered this year, with a four-hour program on Tuesday morning, covering: Pesticide laws and regulations; Fruit crop herbicides and ground rig sprayer calibration, Fruit Crop fungicides and tree sprayer calibration, Fruit Crop insecticides for challenging insects\u2014grasshoppers, scales, borers, stinkbugs<\/em><\/p>\n

The Future of Fruit Growing in Texas<\/strong>\u2014We will discuss the future of growing fruit in Texas on Tuesday afternoon, looking in depth at the future of stone fruits, pome fruits, citrus, berries and other important fruits, and what new challenges and opportunities are on the horizon for these important Texas fruit crops.<\/em><\/p>\n

Texas Fruit Tasting<\/strong>\u2014Fall-Season, Texas-grown fruits has become an important part of our annual event, and we look forward to an expanded fruit tasting this year!<\/em><\/p>\n

While oriented toward small acreage and commercial production of perennial orchard crops, the Texas Fruit Conference is attended by master gardeners and hobbyists, who want to know more about fruit growing in Texas.<\/em><\/p>\n

Early-Bird registration is set at $65\/per person for those people registering by September 10th.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Regular online registration from Sept. 11 to September 28th is $75\/person<\/p>\n

On-site registration on Oct. 2nd is $85\/person<\/p>\n

All registrations include lunch on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
