IPM Field Scouting Announcement, Terry-Yoakum IPM Program

We are beginning to sign up acres for the 2014 Integrated Pest Management field scouting program. The total enrolled acreage will be limited, therefore sign-up is on a first come, first served basis. The funds paid into the scouting program will go toward paying the scouts wages and mileage. I will hire field scouts (the number depends on acreage/need) that will be sent to an extensive scout training school and will be continually monitored and trained by me, throughout the season. Having a crop advisor/field scout may be… Read More →

T-Y IPM News, August 20, 2013

Current Situation: Cotton in the IPM scouting program is cutout in all fields. Fields range from 2.0 nodes above white flower (NAWF) to 4.5 NAWF. Cotton remains predominately pest free, however weeds are present in most fields. During the past seven days (August 13-19) cotton used an estimated 1.35” of moisture (source: http://texaset.tamu.edu/date.php?stn=5&spread=7). This water use will decline as bolls begin to open. With cotton reaching cutout one should remember the following benchmarks in heat unit (HU) accumulations: Bolls are safe from caterpillar pests at 350 HU beyond… Read More →
