TO: Tarrant County Independent School Districts, Home Schools, Charter and Private Schools

ATTENTION: Principals, All 4th & 5th Grade Teachers & Lead Teachers:

Fourth and Fifth grade students in your school are invited to participate in Pizza Ranch. This fun and free educational event is presented by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s Food and Fiber Committee to help our youth better understand the origin of the ingredients in pizza.

This coming year, Pizza Ranch will be held May 6th & 7th, 2014 in the Justin Arena at the Will Rogers Memorial Complex, 1501 Rip Johnson Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. We are hoping to reach 3500 students each day.

Teachers may request the day and time they would like to attend on a first come, first serve basis by calling the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office at 817-884-1946, ask for Sonia Benavides. However final scheduling will be dependent upon the best use of facilities and volunteer labor. Please respond as soon as possible, but no later than noon on April 18, 2014.

A giant pizza will be constructed in the Justin Arena. It will contain live plants and animals used to make pizza . . . . . wheat, beef, pork, cheese, tomatoes, peppers, onions, herbs, spices. Also present for the occasion will be Southwest Dairy Association’s Mobile Classroom, a MyPlate presentation, and a display on 4-H opportunities.

Tours will begin at 9:40 a.m. on each day and continue every twenty minutes until 12:00 p.m. It takes approximately two hours to complete the tour which includes lunch provided by Southwest Dairy Museum, Domino’s Pizza – Mark of Excellence, and many other sponsors throughout Tarrant County, at no charge to you. Transportation to and from the event is the responsibility of the school. Free lunch is served to all students, teachers, and volunteers that attend Pizza Ranch.

We look forward to seeing you!
