Sponsored by the Texas Cotton State Support Committee
A project of Texas AgriLife Extension supported by a grant from the Texas Cotton State Support Committee. The primary goals of the project are to develop a spreadsheet tool to enable South Plains farmers to quickly and accurately evaluate the relative profitability of all relevant crops and to keep the spreadsheet updated with current costs and prices.
The spreadsheet can be downloaded below and is available to anyone to use. If you would prefer the spreadsheet mailed to you on a CD along with other supporting information, call Jackie Smith at 806-746-6101.
Spreadsheet will be available next week
Agricultural Applications of Tablets and Smart Phones
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct four workshops in February and March to introduce farmers and ranchers to electronic tablets and smart phones. The workshops are designed to help producers obtain market information and utilize various apps to make timely and profitable decisions on the go.
The Risk Management Toolkit for Farmers & Ranchers Project has gotten our first three apps accepted into the Apple iTunes Store. The Crop Cost app is designed to help agricultural producers calculate their cost of production for cotton, corn, sorghum, peanuts and wheat. Water Calc helps irrigators in the 16-county HPUWD calculate their water use with the alternative method of using electric or gas meter readings. Water Cost allows irrigators to calculate their cost of irrigation fuel per acre and per inch of water applied.
The apps can be downloaded for FREE by clicking the icons below:
