Who is Dr. D.E. “Mike” Howell?

Dr. Mike Howell, who passed away in 1990, was a livestock entomologist with Oklahoma State University.  He was one of the long-time attendees of RMCE and always had interesting stories to tell about livestock entomology, and was a well-recognized teacher.  Receiving his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Entomology and Parasitology from the University of California at Berkeley, he became Assistant Professor in 1939 in the Entomology Department of Oklahoma State University. He was professor and Head of the Department from 1952 to 1970. He retired and became Professor and Head Emeritus of the department in 1976. He served as President of the RMCE in 1950. He was a member and/or held high positions in numerous other organizations.
