AgriLife Research scientists are working to improve peoples lives by solving current problems. Many of our research programs focus on applied science in animal genomics, meat science, and food safety that have immediate applications for animal agriculture in Texas and beyond.
AgriLife Research programs include each of the major livestock species in Texas. These programs address a variety of issues that confront farmers and ranchers right now. This work also yields basic scientific findings that are the foundation for further research discoveries.
Current research topics include production efficiency, protecting food and water supplies, new forage cultivars, value-added mitigation strategies, and vaccines, diagnostics, and immunotherapeutics for preventing and diagnosing infectious diseases of livestock.
