Extension continues to strengthen its support of military installations in Texas through the 4-H and Youth Development program. The National 4-H Council began partnering with the military to provide youth development programs at Army installations in the U.S., Europe, Japan, and South Korea.
The 4-H and Youth Development Program is now in 49 states and in several U.S. Territories. In Texas, the program is especially important within the military branches–representing more than 100,000 military youth ages six to 18 years of age.
With frequent moves and long parental deployments, 4-H provides predictable programming and a safe and nurturing environment for military kids.
