Jeff Savell, University Distinguished Professor, Regents Professor, and E.M. “Manny” Rosenthal Chairholder in the Department of Animal Science, was a Fish Camp Namesake for the 2015 incoming freshmen at Texas A&M University. Being selected as a Fish Camp Namesake is one of the highest honors someone can receive at Texas A&M University, and namesakes are chosen based on nominations and selections by students.

Camp Savell was held at Session B Blue on August 3-6, 2015 with about 160 freshmen in the camp. Two co-chairs, Aaron Garcia and Allison Mays, along with 20 counselors worked for months to prepare for the camp, which was held at Lakeview Methodist Conference Center in Palestine, Texas. Savell was joined at Fish Camp by his wife, Jackie, and daughter, Jennifer Larriviere and her children, Jackson and Lauren.

This is the second camp named for Savell who was honored with a T-Camp (a camp for transfer students) in 1997.
