Rosemary L. Walzem earned her PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry from the University of California at Davis and became a Registered Dietitian following her internship at the Sutter Community Hospitals in Sacramento California. She is currently an Associate Professor of Nutrition and a former Director of the Center for Nutrition, Health and Food Genomics at Texas A&M University. She serves as Subject Expert in Nutrition for the Institute of Food Technologists Global Policy and Regulations Committee and represents that professional organization at meetings for the CODEX Committee for Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses. She has over 68 peer-reviewed research publications, 12 book chapters and a patent. Her research interests focus on the role of diet as a change agent for health promotion. Her research program encompasses basic, clinical and translational aspects of nutrition. She has consulted with a number of companies or commodity groups to create research programs to assess the nutritive properties of different products.
