Monty Dozier began his Texas A&M AgriLife Extension career in 1984 as an Assistant County Extension Agent in Lubbock County. During the next eleven years, Monty served in county agent positions for Brazos, Crane and Lamb counties. In 1995, Monty returned to College Station to work as an Extension Assistant in water quality and to pursue a Ph.D. in Agronomy. After completion of his Ph.D. and after serving as an Extension Program Specialist – Conservation and Liaison to the Texas State Office for the USDA – Natural Resources Conservation Service, Monty began serving as an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist – Water Resources in the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences.

As an Extension Specialist, Monty provided educational support to county Extension programs and conducted applied research in the areas of off-target losses of agricultural chemicals in surface runoff and groundwater contamination. In 2007, Monty transferred into his current role as an Associate Professor and Extension Regional Program Director for Agricultural and Natural Resources for the South Region of Texas. Monty works directly with county extension agents in the 56 counties of the South Region to plan, implement and, evaluate educational programs for agricultural producers, community leaders, and young people. Monty and his wife, Mary, have four children and live on a small farm in Robertson County near Franklin.
