Corliss Outley, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Recreation, Parks and Tourism Sciences at Texas A&M University and serves as the Co-Director of Evaluation for the Center for Community Health Development in the School of Rural Public Health. Dr. Outley was formerly on faculty with the School of Kinesiology at the University of Minnesota, and also served on the interdepartmental Youth Development Leadership Program faculty. Dr. Outley is a founding member of the new College of AgriLife Youth Development Initiative. Dr. Outley conducts research on youth with particular interest in ethnic identity, built and physical environmental influences, and social relationships (peers and parents). She frequently does community-based participatory research (CBPR) involving youth via focus groups, community mapping, and documentary photography.

Dr. Outley has published numerous refereed articles, book chapters and magazine manuscripts in her area of expertise. Her opportunities to work within the community have been documented through a 2004 PBS DragonFly TV spotlight on “Real Scientists”. Dr. Outley was presented with the 2006 Outstanding Community Service Award by the University of Minnesota and was named a Howdy Camp namesake in 2009. Outley earned her B.S. in Biology at Grambling State University, Louisiana, her M.S. in Forestry from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and her Ph.D. in Recreation and Natural Resources Development from Texas A&M University.
