Welcome!
GLOBE is a two-year program for intermediate and senior Texas 4-H’ers to learn more about poverty, hunger, and sustainability, as well as others cultures and working together on service projects. This program was created by Dr. Darlene Locke and Charlene Belew.
Hector, Nancy, David, and Ivan Ariza proudly represent Harris County in the GLOBE pilot program.
Tier I
This summer, 27 youth and 7 chaperones formed the pilot program for GLOBE and traveled to Heifer International in Arkansas for a 4-day experience to learn about Heifer’s service, other cultures, as well as team building and simulation of poverty and hunger. (To learn more about Heifer International, click here).
To qualify for Tier II, these youth must complete 2 presentations on their experience and a service project, along with a report by October 31st, 2016. They must also fundraise in order to help pay for themselves for the service trip in 2017.
Tier II
In the summer of 2017, the pilot program will travel either domestically or internationally to conduct a service project as a group. This group will help iron out details for future groups of GLOBE youth.
