A regional poultry and gardening seminar will be held at the Kosse Community
Center on Friday, July 20th. Registration will be held from 8:00am till 9:00am with
the program to run from 9:00am till 3:30pm.
The registration fee will be $30 which includes lunch, handout materials, breaks & 3
CEU’s. Payment for registration will be at the door. Please call & let us know if you

“The intended audience are people that have thought about getting a few chickens
and raising a garden,” said Ed Schneider, AgriLife Extension agent for Robertson
County and workshop coordinator. “Some may already have both, but need information
or help getting started. We think that a lot of folks that have recently retired
or are looking at retirement want to be more sustainable. They want to raise their
own food to save money and to take pride in doing something they grew up doing.
This workshop will offer something for everyone.”

Backyard Laying Hen Facilities and Nutrition Management, Dr. Craig Coufal, AgriLife
Extension poultry specialist; Selling the Goods Produced by your Backyard Flock-
Regulations, Coufal; Brown Eggs, White Eggs, Red Chickens, White Chickens, Checkered
Chickens-So What Breed Do I Buy?, Ideal Poultry representative; Ducks, Geese,
Guineas or Turkeys – Why or Why Not?, Ideal Poultry representative.
Afternoon session topics and speakers are: Home Gardening-Soil, Irrigation and Size
