Scholarship Training Information

Scholarships are a great way to obtain financial assistance for  your college education.  They also look good on your resume when trying to get your first career job. The time to start thinking about scholarships is when you start High School.  The time to start searching for the ones you qualify for is between your junior and senior years of high school and the Time to start applications is the start of your senior year.

Texas A&M University Soil & Crop Sciences Department Scholarship Opportunity

These scholarships are for incoming freshmen and transfer students. Deadline is March 15.
Great scholarship opportunities from the Texas A&M Soil & Crop Sciences Department for up to four $8000 scholarships to qualified students planning to major in Agronomy or Plant & Environmental Soil Sciences.

Texas 4-H And Youth Development Opportunities Scholarship Applications

2012 Texas 4-H and Youth Development Opportunities Scholarship Applications, The Texas 4-H and Youth Development Program and the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation is once again pleased to offer to our senior high school 4-H members and current college students the opportunity to apply for an Opportunity Scholarship through the Texas 4-H Program. The application and the instructions are separate documents for easier completion and direction. What is new for 2012:

  • Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will allow home and private school youth to be considered for their scholarships in 2012.
  • Courageous Heart applicants cannot be considered for other scholarship categories.
  • Applicants that are invited and participate in interviews are not guaranteed a scholarship.
  • Applicants will NOT be excused from either the face-to-face interviews or the scholarship assembly. Applicants and families should plan accordingly based on the dates provided in the guidelines!

Due dates and deadlines for 2012 Scholarship process are as follows:

November 2011: Release of 2012 Application

November – January: Scholorship Trainings

November – December: Applicant completes FARSA and recieve report

January 13th: Application due to county office

February 10, 2012: Application due to District office

February 24th: Application due to State 4-H office

April 13th: Interview selections notified

May 4th – 6th, 2012: Interviews in Austin, TX

June 11th , 2012: Awards Program/Banquets in Lubbock, TX

Requirements for the Baccalaureate, Technical, and Courageous Heart Scholarships

All applications MUST meet the minimum requirements/criteria to even be considered for judging (see guidelines for complete details). Those applications not meeting the requirements should not be submitted to the county Extension Office and/or Agent.

Texas 4-H Scholarships and College Support

Texas 4-H and Youth Development Program Opportunity Scholarships are awarded each year to applicants based on their 4-H experience, academic record and financial need (for scholarships for which it is a prescribed criterion). The Texas 4-H and Youth Development Opportunity Scholarship Program is conducted in coordination with the Texas 4-H and Youth Development Program, the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation, and Texas AgriLife Extension Service.

The Texas 4-H Foundation seeks to ensure that each recipient receives the highest dollar amount of scholarship for which that recipient is eligible. For the majority of the total scholarships and scholarship funds available, participation in a livestock show is not a requirement for consideration for an Opportunity Scholarship.

Annual Release Date of Applications is in early December.

2012 Jerry Orr Memorial 4-H Educational and Leadership Sponsorship

Scholarship is available to any active Fannin County 4-H member attending leadership and/or educational workshops pertaining to any of the listed activities related to selecting/raising/showing beef cattle .

2011 Texas Blackland Income Growth Scholarship

Applications for the BIG Scholarship must be turned into Mr. Skipper before November 23st.

This year, Blackland Income Growth Scholarship amounts are being raised to $1000 each.

The Blackland Income Growth awards ten (10) scholarships to outstanding 4-H members in Blackland counties.

Fannin Master Gardener Scholarship

FCMG Scholarship(s) are awarded each year to applicant(s) based on:

• A course of study related to horticulture – see attached list

• Activities and leadership both in school and the community

The scholarship applied for is a minimum amount of $250.

Applicants must be enrolling or actively involved in one of the following: Baccalaureate Program – Traditional Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) Associates Degree / Technical Certification – Degree or Certification offered in eligible majors/ courses of study and from approved accredited colleges.

Fannin County 4-H, FFA, FHA Scholarship Guidelines

Applicants must be graduating seniors in the current school year.  Each application will be evaluated with your personal interview to decide on recipients.  Information you provide should include your last four years in 4-H, FFA, FHA.  A specially selected panel of judges will evaluate and score the applications.  Interviews will be required for the applicants.

Fannin County Fair Scholarship_Application-2010

State Fair of Texas Scholarship

Established in 1992, the State Fair of Texas Scholarship Program has awarded more than $2.8 million in new and renewed scholarships. The fund is open to eligible high school seniors from around the state who participate in State Fair livestock shows and to outstanding students attending these Fair Park-area high schools: Lincoln, James Madison, North Dallas, Woodrow Wilson or the Irma L. Rangel YWL School. Recipients receive a $5,000 grant, renewable in $1,250 annual increments if the student maintains a 3.0 GPA toward their college degree at a Texas university and/or community college
