Scott and Lauren Ogden are the featured speakers at the first East Texas Garden Lecture Series on February 16 at the Tyler Rose Garden Center. The keynote will be based on their award winning book “Plant-Driven Design: Creating Gardens That Honor Plants, Place and Spirit.” They base their approach that plants come first rather than a certain style or architectural construct in which to find plants that fit. Their extensive plant knowledge and design experience equips them to look at the process of creating gardens in a new way. And, their goal is to help give gardeners the confidence to design, and designers the confidence to plant beyond a narrow palette of plants and plant combinations.

Their second talk of the morning is “Moonlit Gardens”, which  the title of a book Scott wrote several years ago, about creating and enjoying gardens after the sun sets.

The Ogdens will be available to sign books, and there will be copies of several of their titles there to purchase.

Several gardening-related businesses and organizations will be exhibiting their services and selling garden products. There is a $25 registration fee (cash or check, registration at the door only). Registration opens at 8

:00 a.m., and the program begins at 9:00 a.m., and ends around noon.  Check out our Facebook page: (facebook.com/ETGardenConference) for updates, posts and reminders.

The Lecture Series continues with “Creating Creative Container Gardens” on March 16, and “Growing and Arranging Cut Flowers” on April 13. Thanks to the City of Tyler Water Utilities Department for their educational sponsorship of the series.
