District 12 4-H Council has elected to conduct a number of community service projects in conjunction with several district events and activities. The main focus of these projects is to get 4-H members across the district to join in a unified effort to serve their communities. Below is a list of all the service projects the District 12 4-H Council is promoting.

October 8, 2011 will be another great day for the Texas 4-H and Youth Development Program, as that it is the date for the 3rd Annual one day 4-H event throughout our state. Each county is asked to review these projects and work with your county council and clubs. Unless indicated otherwise, these projects should be conducted locally to benefit your local community, and a report should be brought and presented at the respective event. Other projects require bringing the item(s) to the event as noted.

| Event: District 12 4-H Food Show & 4-H Food Challenge | Dec 10, 2011 |
| Description: Bring arts/craft supplies to create and decorate Christmas ornaments. Supplies include “blank” or solid colored ornaments that can be embellished with glitter, paint, or other things to make each decoration unique. Also, bring any boxes that the ornaments can be placed in and distributed. | |

| Description: Collect crayons for children at the Driscoll Children’s Hospital. Collect locally and bring all crayons to the district event. | |

| Event: District 12 4-H Shooting Sports Match | Apr 28-29, 2012 |
| Description: Collect dog food and other dog care supplies and distribute locally to your community or county animal shelter. | |

| Leading Through Literacy | |
| Event: District 12 4-H Roundup | May 5, 2012 |
| Description: Collect age-appropriate books locally and distribute to local Head Start program or other childcare program to promote literacy in your county. Collect and distribute locally. | |

| Brighter Days Horse Refuge | |
| Event: District 12 4-H Horse Show | Jun 8, 2012 |
| Description: Collect two things: (1) supplies needed by the facility include fly masks, wormers, buckets, and water hoses; (2) larger horse-related items that can be used in a fun auction. Items donated will be shipped along with proceeds from items brought for the Fun Auction. Fun Auction items will be used as raffle items and can be anything that 4-H members might like to have and purchase tickets to win. Collect locally and bring to the Horse Show. | |

| Cooling Neckties | |
| Event: District 12 4-H Leadership Lab | Jun 19-22, 2012 |
| Description: Construct cooling neckties for our troops. Patters and instructions are available online. Bring those with you to leadership lab and they will be distributed to a military installation where troops will receive them. | |
