Media Relations and Public Affairs

The Media Relations group brings international, national and statewide recognition to the accomplishments and activities of Texas A&M AgriLife through placements of information in news media. The group works with scientists and specialists to develop news stories about priority research and programs, place those stories with appropriate print and broadcast media, and assist media with requests. The group uses a variety of media outlets from traditional print and broadcast media to such alternative media as blogs, Web sites, and podcasts.

I supervise and manage the Media Relations team. I also write and provide media support for research and Extension in horticulture, plant pathology, and biochemistry and biophysics. I cover the Texas AgriLife Research center at Beaumont and have oversight for news coverage at the AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Dallas.

I also cover the campus-based faculties of recreation, parks and tourism sciences, nutrition and food sciences, Family and Consumer Sciences, and 4-H.
