NCBA Convention

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) is bringing their annual convention back to the Alamo City, February 4-7th. This will be the 117th meeting of the national trade group that represents more than 29,000 individual members and 60 state and breed affiliates. The four days of activities will include keynote speakers, trade show, educational seminars, policy forums, committee and board meetings, as well as social events to engage producers from across the country with each other and network about issues and practices. In addition, the industry organizations of the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion & Research Board, American National CattleWomen, Inc., CattleFax and National Cattlemen’s Foundation also meet during this time. Policy priorities for the coming year are discussed and outlined at this meeting and is a major focus of the convention. The convention will be held at the Henry B.  Gonzalez Convention Center in downtown San Antonio. The Cattlemen’s College workshops will be held on February 3rd and 4th and will include a number of industry experts addressing topics of identifying production practices, value concepts from feedlot to retail, improve the beef from market cows, rebuilding the herd, future of beef production and also will include an address from legendary farm broadcaster, Max Armstrong. The opening session will be Wednesday, February 4th and will feature Erik Wahl, an internationally recognized graffiti artist and best selling business author, who will paint visual metaphors to highlight his message of profitability through innovations and superior levels of performance. Representatives from CattleFax will address the state of the beef industry and what producers can expect in terms of prices in future, as well as volatility issues. The NCBA Trade Show is the largest, most important national show for anyone in the cattle business. The event allows industry members the opportunity to visit with representatives from breed associations, health, nutrition and management companies, as well as view new products and technologies. The NCBA convention offers something for everyone, as there are also meetings for collegiate cattlemen and women, and for youth.
