In an effort to address the needs of cotton producers in Texas, this team conducted Replicated Agronomic Cotton Evaluation trials in the High Plains and South Texas regions in 2006 and later expanded their efforts to all major cotton-producing regions in Texas. The teams efforts have produced high-quality, unbiased information about seed varieties and serves as a key decision aid for producers. The impact of cotton variety selection in Texas is estimated to exceed $50 million annually. The RACE team does an excellent job of working with external partners as well as AgriLife extension agents and specialists across the state. The Superior Service Award is the highest recognition extended within AgriLife Extension to our own personnel.
