The Office of Federal Relations was established to enhance the programs of Texas A&M AgriLife Research, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, the Texas A&M Forest Service, and the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory by building support at the federal level. The office is responsible for maintaining consistency and coordination of contact with these supporters while promoting and striving for funding for numerous programs and initiatives.
The College also works at a federal level by providing students with substantial internship experience working full-time on Capitol Hill for a member of the Texas Congressional Delegation, the House Committee on Agriculture, or other agencies that focus on agriculture or natural resources. Since 1990, the Agricultural and Natural Resources Policy Internship Program has been sending students to Washington, D.C., and Austin, Texas, to learn about policy, get practical work experience, and build a professional network.
